About Eston
The TS postcode area, also known as the Cleveland postcode area, is a group of postal districts around Billingham, Guisborough, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar, Saltburn-by-the-Sea, Stockton-on-Tees, Trimdon Station, Wingate and Yarm in England.
Eston is a town within the borough of Redcar and Cleveland and the ceremonial county of North Yorkshire, England. It forms part of the Middlesbrough agglomeration in Teesside, but is outside the borough boundary. With other suburbs it forms a Greater Eston area.
The large town of Eston lies at the foot of Eston Hills, a ridge 150-200 m above sea level, and a part of the Cleveland Hills.
Eston today has undergone change. The Eston square area has many small businesses, including numerous fast food/takeaways.
The Eston Hills are situated to the south of the Middlesbrough suburbs of Eston and Normanby, and are a prominent feature on Teesside. They have a rich history, from Bronze Age settlements to mining in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and boast a variety of wildlife. From the top of the escarpment there are panoramic views to the north across Teesside to the Durham Hills, and west to the Pennines. The North York Moors are visible to the south.
